Mitch Cohen from Colgate-Palmolive discusses how they have used Lotus software to improve communications throughout their enterprise to streamline business processes. Colgate-Palmolive has over 20,000 knowledge workers at 300 locations, in over 117 countries. Mitch goes into detail of how Colgate-Palmolive utilizes Lotus software, like Sametime and Connections to connect all these employees.
One point that Mitch makes that is very important is how to find someone not by name, but by subject expertise. When I was in IBM, I sometimes did not know who to turn to, but by searching for experience, I was able to locate the the person in the organization that best met my needs. Once I did find a person, I could check out their Connections profile to get a little more background before making my first contact. Before Lotus Connections, you started calling through your network to see who might be able to help, or who knew someone that could. It was very inefficient.
I like this campaign by Lotus. The focus is not on the specific Lotus product, but on the client success. Lotus customers have great stories to tell, and IBM is getting the word out. Keep it up.
